Ancient Arts Stained Glass (http://www.ancientartsstainedglass.com) has completed the first phase of stained glass repair and restoration at St. Emydius Catholic Church, Lynwood, CA.
Mark Schoem was contacted by the parish administrator, Sister Margaret Bannan in January of this year. They met at the church and did a survey of the damaged stained glass windows in various areas of the church. The pastor, Monsignor Emigdio Herrera, decided that the most pressing need was in the parish library where intruders had entered on more than one occasion.
By reaching through a missing piece of stained glass, it was possible to open a lock and climb into the library.
The work started in June. Mark sent glass samples to the Kokomo factory in Indiana and was able to match the original glass.
Many broken and cracked pieces in the library were replaced and the job was completed on August 20, 2009.
